It has been well over a decade since I have even looked at it. And in that time a lot of things have changed. I graduated from college and worked at the same university for way too long, made up with my boyfriend, broke up with my boyfriend, moved a couple of apartments, and got laid off. Moved to live with my mom in Gilbert, Az, took a job working for the Army in Sierra Vista, Az. Started having problems panic attacks, got laid off again, almost moved to Germany for a job, but that fell through. Got hired working for the Air Force, moved to Tucson, Az, adopted the cat you see above, was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (but my therapist and I think it is a misdiagnosis) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. And now, here I am, living through the Covid-19 global pandemic, wearing a mask, worrying over church closures, race relations, Marxism and government controversy coin shortages, sitting in isolation with my cat, dog and my 60 gallon tank of happily ignorant, but blissful fish. I’m doing things I never thought I would be doing and wondering what the hell is next. How’s the apocalypse treating you? But I have dated men who have wanted me to change, in particular, my appearance. I am a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl, but I like to dress up and wear heels on occasion. I like my skirts to be longer to cover my thighs. I don't like it, when a man wants to buy me clothes that he thinks I would look good in. My hair is not strait, and not curly either. But, I like to curl my hair before going out. Pony tails, in my opinion are for cleaning house and working out, not for going out. I like to wear make up, I don't wear it to hide behind it, but because I feel glamorous and beautiful when I wear it. My breasts are big enough, and are not getting bigger. I like my curves, I have no desire to as thin as a stick, I only desire to be healthy. I hate it, when I am compared to other women, hearing "why can't you dress or look like her". I don't dress or look like "her", because I am not "her". I feel that I look good and feel young at the age that I am and should not have to do something artificial to "look younger." I want men to be attracted to me, but I was not put on earth to constantly turn a man "on".

If you are a man, I can give you my heart, but what you see standing in front of you is real and it is mine. And if I can accept you, you can accept me for I am.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-17456085528580989242012-12-14T15:03:00.001-08:002012-12-14T15:30:09.923-08:00Connecticut and China

In light of the shootings in Connecticut and the killings in China I would like to say that my prayers and thoughts go out to those children and adults who have lost their lives and to those who have suffered in these terrible events. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each one them dearly and that he sent His Son for them and all of us that we may feel of His love. I am grateful for His light and love and pray that for it to be extended to all in this dark hour.
Ok, I have done many things in my past, including cashiering, movie rental and telemarketing. But I eventually had to learn that I was never going to get what I wanted out of those jobs, because they were jobs and not careers. So I decided what I wanted out of my work and went back to school while working full-time as a career adviser for a local high school in this great town in which I live in of Las Cruces, NM. I had a fully equipped computer lab with all the career assessments, forms, information, games, and whatever else you could think of. I was like the Wicked Witch of the high school with dark cave full of computers, where I would force children to look into their own crystal balls to see what the future could hold for them, "But miss! I have to take a test! WHY!!!!". But, even though I love children, I cannot stand a whiny teenager and I had 1,300 or so whiny teenagers to prepare for life outside of high school and without mom and dad. More than my fair share if you ask me. So I moved on to my career of choice, which has nothing to do with whiny teenagers.

But in the last few months, I have come into contact with people who are out looking for a job and are struggling to get the attention of employers and considering looking for jobs in lower pay scales or outside the career they were hoping for. When I asked why they were doing this, the reply was one of many, such as...

The employer never calls me back
There are no job openings in my career field
The job is only temporary
I don't have 2 years of experience, so I can't apply
I don't have ANY work experience, so I can't apply
There are NO JOBS
I don't know what else to do
So on and so forth and on and on and on and on and on and on. REALLY?!!! And I thought teenagers were whiny!

Ok, there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding out there about the job hunting process and that maybe contributing to our nations high unemployment rate, unfortunately. But how do we as a people overcome this?
Baby Finds His Belly Button, Self Discovery Is Good For The Soul

Ok, I am not a scriptorian, but in Matthew, chapter 18, verse 3, it says that we should become as a little child. But how does this apply to job hunting, you may ask? Well, babies and children spend most of their time discovering things, and most importantly they are discovering things about themselves. Like the baby who has just discovered his belly button. He will touch it, squeeze it, and move it around all the while thinking, "What is this, how does it work and how does it feel?". Now babies are curious and will go towards anything that catches their eye, reach out, grab it and then put it in their mouths, to see what it tastes like. Now we cannot put ourselves in our mouths but, we all need to have that want and need to find out about ourselves and this takes becoming like a little child and realizing that we don't know everything about ourselves, our environment and what opportunities are out there for us. We have to be humble, meek, and willing to learn. And then we need to reach out and grab our lives and find out what it is all about.

The first step is to discover what you want to do with your life. Being okay with the attitude of not know what you want to do with your life is NOT OKAY. Not knowing what you want to do with your life does not fly in life, it is not realistic. You need to be realistic. We have all dreamed of being a celebrity of some sort, but bring it down to earth. Even George Clooney struggled in the beginning to get a part, and so will you. And just because you don't attain some form status that you hoped for in your own mind, there will always be someone who is looking up to you. So bring dreams down to earth, it is all in your attitude, put the glitz and glamor in the back of your mind and get to work.
-Robert Frost

Not to long ago someone told me that I should be chasing around a husband and a bunch of little kids, which of course I am not. This statement really hurt me. It is not that I never wanted to do those things but I have not had the opportunity to marry and have children like most of my friends, so I have had to take the road less traveled. And I had to learn to become okay with it. It is really easy to feel like that you should be at a certain point in life, such as you should be married, have the 2.5 children and the big house when in reality you are single and live in a cheap apartment. Everyone is at different points in their lives and we are all struggling in different aspects of our lives. No can or should be telling you where you should be in life, but unfortunately, there are people out there who do just this. Take it with a grain of salt and keep going.

A Note To Parents
Don't discourage you children. You want your children to reach their full potential. And sometimes that means that you have to let go of them. When I was teaching, a young man came into my classroom to take his assessments. This young man was very creative, loved painting, and excelled in art. He wanted to go to art school. His assessments and grades showed that he was perfect for a scholarship to a great art school. He also wanted to make his father proud. His father was also a painter, but of walls and not of canvas. He came to the US, became a citizen, and started his painting business. He was very successful in his business and did not wish to see his business go when he could no longer run it. He wanted his son to take it over, and he was determined to make it so, because his business was his dream. When his son came to him about going to art school with a full scholarship, the answer was no. His father told him that it was his job to take over the family business and art school was out of the question. The last time I saw this young man was at a restaurant with his father and other of his father's employees. The young man looked at me, then turned his eyes to the ground and then at his father. His father gave him a stern look and you could see the emotional vice around this young man that was keeping him from reaching his potential.
Your dreams as parents should not be the dreams of your children. Children are brought into this world so that they can be raised and then let go to achieve their own dreams and not yours.

Ok, Where To Start
Ok, a lot of people think that when they are looking for a job, they should start with their resume, but you should start with a career assessment. Why? Well, this is where a lot of the self exploration comes in. And just because you been in a career for a while, does not mean that you know everything about yourself. It is just as important for someone who has been in a career for a while as it is for someone who is just starting out. A career assessment will help with evaluating strengths and weaknesses and reevaluating a career path.

These assessments can also help someone who just starting out to decide what path that they want to take. One thing that I learned from teaching careers is that if a concept does not apply to a high school student at the moment, they feel that it serves no propose, so why waste time learning it. A good example of this is a student's opinion of Algebra. Many students see no purpose in learning Algebra. But Algebra is used in many careers such as engineering. The career assessment help students see what their strengths and weakness are, which apply to them at this time in their lives and also see how their choices during their high school career can affect their future.

Ok, so here is a link for an online career assessment or google for a career assessment. http://www.careercolleges.com/career-assessment-test.jsp

Take the assessments and evaluate the path that you are on or the path that you want to be on.

College, Training or Work
Ok, college might not be for everyone, but statistics have shown that those who have some form of higher education or training have fared better in this recession then employees with basic educations or less. Essentially, if you are on the bottom of the totem pole, you are the first to go. But on the other hand, I have noticed a return to roots where smaller companies are faring better then big corporations. Continuing education can create more opportunities, but don't get your heart set on the corner skyscraper office with a view. Main street businesses have done better and need our support more then bigger businesses. You also may consider being your own boss, where everything relies on you, but you cannot lay yourself off.

Plan, Plan, And Plan.
The next step is to plan. Draw up a plan for the next three years. Decide where you want to be. Use your assessment to help you. How much education do you need? How much training do you need. What do you want to accomplish in a year? How much do you want to make annually? If you are planning on college or training, will you need financial aid and how much aid will you need? Are you willing to work and go to school? Write is all out and keep working on your plan as you are achieving your goals.

Ok, sorry for the one year delay, Google and Blogger hooked up and completely locked me out of my account so I could do nothing but look at it.

But, moving on.. Now that you have have evaluated where you want to be and what you want to do, it is time to put your plan in place. Start with the choice that you have made.

College
The first question that you need to ask yourself is, what college do you want to go to.

Here is what you need to think about when looking at colleges and universities

Does this college or university have a degree plan that fits my need?

Colleges and universities have website now a days where potential student can look at the degrees offered, required courses and application processes. They will also have contact information for their advising centers where you can talk to a real, live, person, for information

2. Do I want to relocate?

Most college advisers would would say to attend your local college, but the local college may not have a degree in your field of choice. So you may need to consider packing up the old Uhaul (or truck of you car, whichever) and move. But, hey, you will have the chance to meet new people and have new experiences in a new place.

3. Money, money, money! How am I going to pay school?

My, advice is to apply for a Federal Pell Grant, even if you don't think you are eligible. If you filed and paid your taxes, you have a right to the money that you paid into the system. And the US Government wants you to be to be educated and employed.

Apply for a student loan federal aid.- Education is one of few reasons for debt. But go sparingly, your loan should only cover you educational expenses.

Work, work, work. - Look for a job that will work with your class schedule. The more that you can pay for your education, the better. Plus, you will need to also need be able to pay other expenses.

Note: Relying on family and friends for school funds is, well, unreliable.

To Be Continued...So Stay Tuned!

Both molasses and brown sugar are used in rum, and if you don't have the taste for rum, well you are not going to like most bran muffins. The butter milk can also lend an unpleasant flavor and make the muffins dense.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-72829680621666361752011-09-29T14:29:00.000-07:002011-10-02T17:44:53.715-07:00Oops, My Car Broke Down In Another Town Survival Kit!

Ok, we have all been there, you are a days drive from home in another town for business, visiting friends or like in my case at a friend's wedding and reception and something happens to the car. You know it is something more than having to change a tire in high heels and a dress and having to beg, steal and borrow for a place to stay, kind of something. This is what I learned from going to my friends wedding in Albubbq and someone smashed into my car. So here is how to be prepared.

First of all, do this even if you are absolutely sure that nothing is going to happen, Google the area where you are going for motels in your price range, print off the list with phone numbers and addresses and put the list in a zip lock baggie. It is also a good idea to also have AAA or a similar service. And take your cell phone with you!

Piece of mind
I have been taking Dave Ramsey's class on debt management and having an emergency fund of $1000 or more is a really, really, really, good idea! A $1000 will cover most car repairs and motel fees without the extra cost that will occur from putting it all on a credit card. Avoid the old credit card at all costs!!!! Credit card bad!
The Pencil Bag.
Ok, here is what else you will need and it is going to take a little shopping before hand. Dollar store all the way!

Ok, this is your "keep it all together bag". You will figure it out. The pencil bag I chose is not one of the ones in the picture, but you need to make sure that it is large and not made of plastic. The bag needs to be made of heavy duty fabric and preferably with notebook holes. I chose a pencil bag made of denim with a pocket and with riveted notebook holes. Why the pencil bag? The pencil bag is affordable, small enough to store in a glove box and easy to transport. You can also use a makeup bag or a shaving kit bag. But those bags are more expensive.

The Stuff
Ok, here is what you will need to purchase or gather for your kit. You will need items for staying overnight, take a shower and maybe perk up your mood.

You motels list in baggie
Your AAA card
1 sample shampoo
1 sample conditioner
1 sample body wash
1 sample lotion
1 sample toothpast
1 sample deodorant
1 travel tooth brush
1 small, plastic comb
1 hair band
1 hand sanitizer
1 small first aid kit
1 mini sewing kit
2 medium candy bars (sustenance and chocolate moral booster)
1 climbers hook (like this one)

1 small pad of paper for notes
1 pen
1 pencil
1 small flashlight
batteries for the flashlight
2 battery operated or manually operated (you have to lite them) tea lights (they are so useful)
A few waterproofed matches for the manually operated tea lights.
1 portable bottle of pain killer (of your choice)
1 portable bottle of anti-diarrhea pills
$50 cash for food and entertainment
$2 to $10 in quarters, good for payphones and laundromats
Backup cell phone charger.
Back up cell phone car charger
1 rain poncho
1 reflective blanket
4 index cards
3 tampons and 3 pads, if you are a woman

Most of these items can be found at the dollar store, Walmart and Target's sample isle. You can also email the different manufacturers for free samples.

Other medications should not be stored in the kit, but it is a good idea to keep them with you when you are traveling out of town, the heat in the car could cause problems with the medication.

Bring water and soda, but do not store the water in your car. When water is stored in a hot car, bacteria starts to develop in the water. So fresh water only. And soda can explode and make a mess when it gets hot.

Climbers Hook And Index Cards?
Ok, here is what you do with the index cards and climber's hook. And this is going to take some computer work, in MS Word. Open Word and go to the page layout tab. Under the size drop down list, select the size of index cards that you bought for your kit. Type the following for each card...

Card one-front
"Hi my name is (your full-name) and if you have found this card, I am in need of assistance, please call 911 and (emergency contact's name) at (555) 123-456. Please give these cards to the paramedics or emergency personnel. Thank you."

Card one-back
List all medical conditions

Card two-front
List all medications

Card two-back
List all allergies

Card three-front
Doctor's name and medical group
Insurance name and policy or member number

Card three-back
Religious affiliation and contact information

Card four-front
Any other contact information and names

Print each card off and punch a hole in the corner. Use the climber's hook to attach the cards to the pencil bag using the notebook holes. It is a good idea to laminate the card if you can.

Where to put your kit
Put it in the glove compartment, where you can always find it.

Other Things To Keep In Your Car
Having a clean change of clothes is a good idea. Go for functional but can still be fashionable.
A t-shirt
A pair of jeans
A set of clean underwear
A pair of socks
Tennis shoes

Put all your clothes in a large zip lock bag or or one of those space bags, to keep them clean and dry.

Other Good To Haves Are....Tada!
A favorite book
Tools
Jumper cables

You can store these items in the trunk.

Note
This kit is for one person, but it can be altered for families (you will need something bigger than a pencil bag). These kits also make great gifts!

Ok, I learned this one in middle school.

Ingredients
2 cans of white biscuits (usually costs between $.99 and $1.50 a can)
2 cups vegetable oil

Directions

Open both cans of biscuits and separate the dough. Pour oil into a small, deep pot and heat on medium. A great option is to use a knife and cut out a "doughnut hole" into each of the doughnuts. But this is only an option. Drop one doughnut into the oil. Use a large, slatted spoon to flip the doughnut when it is golden brown on the bottom. Remove the doughnut as soon as it is golden brown on both sides using the slatted spoon. Allow to drain and cool on a paper towel. Try to only cook one or two doughnuts at a time. You can cook several of the doughnut holes at a time.

Icing
2 cups confectioners sugar
1 cup hot water
1 tsp butter.

Directions
Mix ingredients and drizzle over doughnuts

Cinnamon and Sugar
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon

Mix ingredients in a paper bag. Place one or two doughnuts into bag and shake to coat. Repeat with the rest of the doughnuts. You can combine all the UVWMaps in PhotoShop to use one texture file for the model.
(Element is the 3DS Max word for one object in a scene)

Step 2

Select the element that you wish to UVMAP.
Under the modifier list select UVWMap
In the list under Parameters, select the type of mapping that you would like to use.
In the modifier list, select UVW Unrap.
Click the Edit button under the Parameters drop down list. The UVMap Editor Map window will open. Edit the UVs to shape and reduce the size to fit the map box in the middle of the window. If you have more than one element to map and each element has to be mapped separately, be sure to leave room in the box for all of the elements.
To render the map, click the Tools drop down in the main toolbar and select Render UVW Map. The Render UVs window should open. Change the width and height to 512 x 512, the fill to black and the edges should be white. Click Render UV Template.
The Render Map window should open, Click the Save button and save to your directory. Choose a file name and save type as a .png image file. The file name does not matter for the UVWMap.

Step 3

Open the UVWMap in PhotoShop.
Use your .png file as a template for painting the textures in layers. After painting the texture, delete the layers with the UVWMap. You do not want the UVWMap to appear on the texture. Flatten and save. Name the texture file solids.png. All texture maps used in renderer must be named solids, thus all models will need a separate file folder for their file structure. If you fail to name the file solids.png, renderer will not be able interpret the texture file and the model will appear white in renderer.
Step 4-Applying the texture to the model.
Click the Material Editor button in the 3DS Max program. The Slate Material Editor will open.
In the Material/Maps Browser, scroll down to the Materials-Standard list. Click and drag the Architectural Material into the View 1 window.
In the Materials/Map Browser, scroll down to Maps-Standard. Click and drag the Bitmap Material into the View 1 window. The Select Bitmap Image File window will open. Go to where the solids.png file is located, select the file and click open.
In the View 1 window, select the O node of the Bitmap and drag a link to the Difference Map of the Material Architect. Repeat this step, but drag the link to the Bump Map.
Select the element that you wish to texture in the Modeling View and return to the Slate Material view. In View 1, select the Material Architect. The thread was posted by a woman who has just gone through a divorce. She was asking for advice on how to pick herself up after having her heart ripped out. I responded by telling her some of things that helped me when my ex-boyfriend left me for another woman. I told her to find something to look forward to, get involved in activities and find something to feel passionate about. I also told her that prayer really helps and that I have received answers to those prayers. Her response was "If only it was as simple as a failed relationship." WHAT!!!!

I probably went to far in responding again, but I felt that I had too. I said that there was nothing simple about a relationship and that if she was going to ask a question she needs to accept the answers she gets from a variety of people with different experiences and heart break. I felt squashed by what she said when I trying help her with her request. I got the "You have never been married, so you cannot understand" attitude again. I don't understand everything, but heart break, I have a very clear understanding of.

Since when is a marriage not a relationship? Now keep in mind that I am talking about the man and woman, and not about a man, woman, and children. Once the children grow up and leave, the couple "relationship" still exists. A couple in a relationship have to deal with each other's needs, personalities, outside pressures, temptations. They argue, makeup, love, are disappointed in each other, are proud of each other, support each other and need each other. They can also do the opposite of everything I just mentioned. Do married couples deal with same things? You betcha!

Divorce is more complicated than a break up is, but but involves the same emotions, love, betrayal, pain, hate, unfulfillment, anger, etc. You name it, it is there. But I felt all of those same things in my "relationship" with my ex.

Sometimes I feel that married and divorced people think the never married people have lived in box their whole lives and have never experienced or felt anything with love and heart break. Talk about being wrong!

I still experience all of the following...

Love
Hate
fulfillment
unfulfillment
respect
disrespect
attraction
distraction
Support
unsupport
trust
betrayal
happiness
sadness
ambition
kindness
aloness
understanding
lack of understanding

A marriage is still a relationship and just because you have been married and divorces does not mean that us, life long singles don't understand and you can't take what we say as being of value.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-42897036596799978252010-02-04T21:28:00.000-08:002010-11-27T22:43:43.974-08:00Men and MPMS (Male Premenstral Syndrom)I have PMS, I admit it. The ugly PSM demon rears it ugly, moody, emotional, head just about every month to remind me that TOM (Time Of Month) is coming to visit. Lucky me and every woman on the planet.

But being a former college student, also means that I had roommates and we discussed this subject all the time. The reason that we talked about it all the time is, for one thing, our bathroom smelled bad once a month, and our cycles would sync up, at witch we would have to either buy stock in Motrin or call in an exorcist. One of my former roommates once told me that she had a theory that men also get PMS (her boyfriend had gotten upset about some little thing earlier that day, and took it out on her) or in their case MPMS too. I have found that she was right.

The human body has cycles, and men are not exempt. I once saw a video on Video Jug, called "How To Conceive a Boy", by producer James Peak. One of the things stated in this little British video is that if a couple want to conceive a baby boy, they should have plenty of sex in the winter, because a man's sperm count is higher in the winter months than it is in warmer months. And this would indicate a cycle.

But, not only that, I have noticed that men seem particularly more moody during certain times of the month. They may not get the cramps, bloating and bleeding that we girls get, but have the tendency to want to not deal with anything and sit and play video games all day when their version of "TOM" comes to visit. They will usually say that they cannot deal with the "drama", usually pointing a finger in our direction. But, I have found that many times, but not all times, they are the source of the drama and not the victims of it. But this is sometimes hard for men to swallow.

I have found a good example with a young celebrity ghost hunter, Zak Begans. Now Zak is already a pretty dramatic guy, I enjoy counting how many times he says "WHAT WAS THAT?!" and "DID YOU HEAR THAT!" with an over the top surprised expression on his face. I follow him on Twitter, and one time he posted a commit that indicated that if a relationship has any sign of drama, he is "out of there." Now I am a big fan of Ghost Adventures, and really like Zak, but you cannot tell me that he is not a source of drama sometimes. Sorry, Zak, drama is not a demon that you can do an EVP session with and ask it to leave you alone. And we are all "possessed" with the demon of "DRAMA".

But anyways, I have even noticed that even other men will joke about men feeling out of sorts, usually saying something like "hey man, you got PMS or something cause you are acting like a girl" or "you need a Tampax to go with that?". Now if a guy says something like this to a a woman, they are lucky if they don't get slapped. But it is even more insulting to a man. Honestly there is nothing wrong with occasionally feeling emotional, but sometimes I feel that men feel emotions just like we do and they cannot always blame us for the drama.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-20188115127700603842009-11-18T11:03:00.000-08:002011-10-12T12:37:52.861-07:00SCAMMERS BEWARE!Has anyone noticed the number of scammers on dating sites? I have had three scammers contact me in the last month. I have turned them all in, but they just keep coming. So I am posting this to let everyone know. Here are a few safety tips that I looked up.

Trust Your Gut Instinct. If you get the feeling that there is something wrong, there is something wrong, get out of the conversation.

Don't Provide Personal Information. I found that many scammers will ask to send flowers right away, just politely say no. This is just another way to steal your information.

Look for Questionable Characteristics in Your Communication. Beware if they ask you for your MSN, Yahoo or private email right away, or if they give you their private email address right away.

Also beware of the use of terms of endearment right away. An honest person will use you user name before calling you something like "my queen" or "sweetie".

Also look for consistent spelling and grammatical errors and the use of common internet lingo like "Lol!" and "brb".

Ask for a recent photo. I always look at profiles with more than just a profile photo. (Guys, please post a photo!)

Stick With Paid Online Dating Services

Don't Get a False Sense of Security.

Meet in a Public Place for Your First Meeting.

If you feel that you have been contacted by a scammer, let your dating site know right away and give them the scammer's username. You can also report them directlt to the FBI, just go to the FBI website.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-37209504004689695332009-06-21T17:16:00.001-07:002010-11-23T12:03:16.626-08:00The Exgirlfriend And Communication
Why do you guys try to talk to women who they have dumped for another woman? If a man pushes away a woman in favor of another woman, does he not understand how hurtful that is for her? Does he not understand that when he tries to talk to the woman that he’s pushed away, it just causes those of feelings of being betrayed to resurface. I have seen many guys try to be friends with their ex girlfriend, but I don’t think they realize that there just hurting more and that they’re just trying to not feel so guilty.

11/23/2010

Just an update, the ex that I was referring to in this post, broke up with me by marrying another woman and told me about it the next day, while on his honeymoon. He started texting me when things started to go bad with the new wife a few months later. And as of now, he is divorced (again). You all know the saying..."What goes around"....."Comes around". Unfortunate.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-87393184736688550862009-06-17T20:59:00.000-07:002011-05-20T11:44:31.443-07:00Single, Never Married, Over 30 and LDS? I was going to a university ward, which is a ward for single college students under the age of 30. I was actually too old to be in the ward, but my old bishop had sympathy for me and let me stay longer, because we don't have a singles ward or organization here. But, since I graduated and still have not found anyone to marry, I have decided to move to a family ward.

Well, my first day at church was interesting. I was 2 minuets late, but my new bishop had already read my records in. I sat on the back row by the back door. My mother affectionately calls the back row the widow's row and yes I do sometimes feel like my husband died in the war in heaven, because he is certainly not here, but because my legs are too long to fit in any other row, my only choice was the back. I was glad to see my friend Anna there, which made me feel a little less like I had the word "single" stamped in neon on my forehead. But she left just after sacrament meeting, so the figurative, bright, day-glow(glows in the dark too),neon, sign returned to my forehead.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 147px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHwVWoU9ZbTwF8JVVd_-5uqWrlv_4YLkfLdDCaDd6Z8h3QiWPlCcVRhDsXaF8suBg86Cm4KuzEWBE5W-TFsgIqsJgx6Ry1Y2j7yOW2w0dNxk89OM4x_U-RghRdBn756CoNWePOTHvIaoqQ/s320/CoolClips_vc092301.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348746786482058754" />
I was surprised at how noisy the ward was. Coming from a college ward with no marrieds usually means there are no children. I had forgotten how noisy little ones can be. I soon noticed an awful smell in the air and then realized that one of the "little ones" in the chapel had done a "big one" and his/hers parents either had not noticed or were waiting for the end of the meeting to take their child for a diaper change.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 236px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHY0ahJmM0PNIJIQUa3h4p5aJKnL4_Qu95IZ5Z723rR62upbxkNnS1aa1bCoE9QfR-OewnBDpFn0ZJt1AUptytz-DjT4hLsq3Xyv33QJUl_cCC1isgr3fI4WwJWARb5y-SMDzhuFqZNzd1/s320/restroom+sign.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348795696713539346" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 304px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_W2zKnpLmJXWOjAeBeLLyhLTQ3_9CweCgAY7lIFRZJRJz98PN3DU2LJrR7tf54-0dbmySOMto6SHYbjHVbYpjhGXG3BprNkP2dP2qOawlX_uZBqcUqpGJC1sZsiSV32CqS14bPCT8D4FT/s320/question_mark.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348796298023975714" />

The sacrament meeting was good, all in all. Just stinky. Lots of testimonys were born and hymns were sung. Afterward, the bishop showed me where to go for Sunday school. Sunday school was held in the relief society room. The bishop introduced me to a group of elderly women and I ended up sitting next to them. It became obvious they were not quite sure what to say to me. I tried make small talk, but in the end, I just ended up setting there. After Sunday school, I really needed to run to the "little girls" room. The bishop politely pointed to way down the hall to "newly refurbished" restrooms. When I got back to the restroom I found that both the doors had signs for restroom but neither door was marked men's or women's. I stood in front of the doors thinking, "should I just try one and hope for the best?" when suddenly a brother said rather loudly from across the hall, "they are unisex!". I gave him an embarrassed smile, said thank you and chose the closest door.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd_kHN7XtFIbLPHKJY4ORnBpYWZpqPOZ6HBlasNILj0ax3JLxw1NZcZROJIbB2qn2XNKSdYakREF3ukPMjjt2gNG22LNm4-EyJ60jwyoDLETtY2gzImx1Q8uMTj9USd-h2Fka_3LoPV3gi/s320/Standing+out_MN_110408a.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348876140884873026" />When I got back to the relief society room, there was a bunch young girls sitting in the room. At first I thought that I was in the wrong room, but I had left my purse sitting on my chair and it was still there. When the meeting started I found out that the young women actually meet with the Relief Society once a month for opening exercises. When the girls left, some other sisters came in and sat down beside me. I began to feel really out of place. All the women that were my age were sitting with baby on their lap or a child near by and they seem to be wearing white blouses with black skirts, like a mommy choir. All of the older women were more colorful but conservative clothes. I sat in my long, pink and white spaghetti strap dress with my beaded, white bolero jacket on top and my strappy, bohemian sandals, feeling the "single" sign burning brightly from my forehead.

I thought about it later though. The single thing will probably always be awkward, but I don't think I was made to blend in and that is ok.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-65483325009704020272009-06-17T09:24:00.000-07:002009-06-17T10:03:56.741-07:00Why Do Guys Take Pictures Of Themselves While Driving?<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdUBGqpmJ-k6u6_KIErDcpP79pkZ877unY2AilkwK-qUd9kFOgBD6fjoAeXELlngaX2tMuihFBLzHym25kMXCG4QMlDo362SbRmZRKoi0ZpZRS6YZpFOUXCzgvl_fRoAwi9yTxdxhrgaxl/s320/handsfree.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348339539288220034" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 251px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9MQpusSHbPplTx3yu_R_nz1QtWzHq0N8LXIl9jPuEHRhTY-mB_5LU4IFKl4sTDMsc49dC_3RaUiZ4JbRvSdqVmE8LW9wfxWhjmGCnslsEJ322ARBI5zoS-V_pN4CKlt5vRzI4ZmX2YNJt/s320/driving-on-cell-phone-and-eating.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348339320815581570" />
Why do guys take pictures of themselves while driving and then post them on networking sites? All of us girls like your faces.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQxOu_VEghYJenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-28297343475850930872009-06-10T15:36:00.000-07:002009-06-16T10:53:19.093-07:00My Dog And A Tampon<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga3FO1UxOADNmAV7hVM2vwXWnt68AIwJKfOzB1yLmKEWRBepHoAOsqspFvdhAxLSmiDTfM3_qLFCAHAiWO3A-FnUlDg_yIc596dYZOktn2NmldLMNSU2uA7Wav0OIMzGCJaiMr1dpjVu0C/s320/115_0216.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346122114273216402" />

Last night my dog (a five pound malteese) committed the ultimate of gross "no nos!"

At 10:45pm I got in the shower after doing my belly dance workout. Normally I put my dog, Muffet in her kennel for the night before I get in the shower, but for some reason, I forgot until I saw her standing in bathroom doorway. I thought as I closed the bathroom door that I would just shower and then put her in the kennel.

As I was washing my hair, I heard a thud. I looked around the shower curtain, but I did not see anything because I am as blind as a bat without my glasses. Everything looked like a blurry normal. So I finished my shower, dried my hair with a towel and put my glasses on. That is when I noticed some trash from the trash can was laying beside the toilet and the bathroom door was open about an inch.

Muffet has been known to get into the bathroom trash in the past and normally I call for her, she comes running, I tell not "no!" and she runs for her little bed under the shelf with her tail between her legs and I clean up the mess. But this time I called her from the bathroom door and she peeked her head around the corner, then slicked around the corner with her head down and darted under my desk to hide. All of sudden I realized what she had done! She had gotten a tampon out of the trash can and ate part of it! Yuck!

With this realization, I remembered a friend of the family telling me at one time that her neighbors had a Shih Tzu named Taipei, who got into the trash and ate a couple tampons. The owner had to take the dog in for emergency surgery to remove the tampons because they had expanded in the dog's digestive tract and could kill the dog. The surgery cost quite a bit and the dog was jokingly called "Tampon" instead of Taipei around the neighborhood.

I had no idea what to do, Muffet was not yet acting sick, not that I could tell. When she saw that I had found the tampon in the living room, she b-lined it for he kennel where she thought she might be safe. She knew that she was in a mountain of trouble.

I thought I might wait it out, so I closed and locked the front of her kennel, so she could not get out and get into more trouble. I grabbed my PDA and sat on my couch (it is actually a padded bench and not very comfortable)to read for a little bit while waiting to see if Muffet gets sick. I then thought that I should call the vet and see if they had a vet on call during the night. East Lohman Veterinary Clinic's answering service picked up, which meant that they did did not have an on call vet, but I asked the operator if she knew of an on call vet in town. She did and gave me the number.

I called the Emergency Animal Clinic and spoke with the on call vet. She said that her Jack Russell Terrier does that all the time and the reactions can very from dog to dog. She said I should only really be concerned if Muffet swallowed the tampon whole. But she told me to keep an eye on her, because some dogs can get upset stomachs and if the conditions persists, take to the vet, but she should be fine.

I listen for Muffet to get sick for most of the night, but it never happened, thank goodness. Needless to say though, Muffet is now banned from ever entering the bathroom again, except for when she needs a B.A.T.H, which then, she does not want to be in the bathroom.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-48779190419368275712009-02-09T13:25:00.001-08:002011-07-25T19:34:54.463-07:00An Easy and Healthy Salad<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 278px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9d92d5zt6zdBDSiBtepB6SFdvo8zMcEHbRzW2odvDSCYJXkf2uk-B7Ne4TeRcy7fPMN94OLuQ15DS4pWaPV86DoIEL8TOfqpNTWd5G8-MVWUrOx54LBrlFxY5pP_8raHxlcF2RBNRcfEv/s320/avocado.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5608928122824003330" />

Here is a recipe for a salad that I have always enjoyed. It very healthy with a good source of protein.

1/4 head of lettuce or fresh spinach
2 Avocados
1/2 cup of Cherry Tomatoes
1 lbs of cooked popcorn shrimp (optional)
Thousands Island or French Dressing

Spread the lettuce or spinach on a plate or on the bottom of a bowl.

Peal the avocados and cut them both in half. Be careful to remove the pit from each avocado and then cut each half into quarters and then dice.

Spread the diced avocados on the lettuce or spinach. Add the tomatoes and mix with the avocados.

If you choose to add the shrimp, make to sure that it is completely cooked. Mix it with the tomatoes and avocados.

Drizzle on the dressing. It is a good idea to use a sweet dressing, but feel free to experiment. I prefer American or French dressing, but Thousand Island it good too.

Serve and enjoy!JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2204934149966467268.post-3327157193341383882008-11-13T09:45:00.000-08:002009-06-16T10:46:08.202-07:00Identity ProjectMy online identity is will be me as a belly dancer. I will be using the internet, music and video as my modes. I am not sure if I am going to build something like a myspace page or a website. The website would be more challenging, but the networking page would be easier. The music and videos are just going to be a given. My site or page's purpose is to be fun, but also educational. There are a lot of myths out there about belly dancers and the dance form, so I am hopeing to dispell some of them. I will need to get permission from some of my fellow belly dancers to use their pictures and videos on the site. I will also include a video that was produced by the Belly Dance Superstars that covers several belly dance topics.JenniferMChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14396616391001802856noreply@blogger.com1
